How to Find Your Ring Size at Home
Every ring in my collection is made to order, crafted to your finger in my Sydney studio. That is part of what makes a handmade ring feel like yours, and it is also why getting your size right before you order is worth a few quiet minutes. The good news is that measuring at home is simple, and you have a few ways to do it.
The paper method
This is the easiest way to find your size with things you already have at home.
- Cut a thin strip of paper.
- Wrap it around the base of the finger you plan to wear the ring on. Keep it snug, the way a ring actually sits.
- Mark the point where it overlaps.
- Lay the strip flat and measure to your mark in millimetres.
That measurement is your finger circumference. Match it to the size guide on each ring listing and you have your size.
Use the printable ring sizer
Every ring listing also includes a sizing guide with a printable ring sizer built in. Download the ring size guide (PDF) Print it at full size, cut out the little band along the lines, then wrap it around your finger and read off the size where it meets. It takes the guesswork out, and you can try it across a few fingers to see what feels right before you order.
Measure a ring you already own
If you have a ring that already fits the right finger, you can work backwards from it. Measure straight across the inside of the band, from one inner edge to the other, in millimetres. That gives you the internal diameter, which the size guide will translate into your size. It is a good way to double check the paper method if you want to be sure.
Request a free ring sizer
If you would rather not measure at all, I can post you a ring sizer before you order. It is a simple plastic band, accurate and genuinely easy to use, and it usually reaches you within a few days. Send me a note at store@pkd.com.au and let me know which ring you are thinking about, and I will pop one in the mail.
A few things worth knowing
Fingers change size a little through the day, so measure in the evening when your hands are at their largest and warmest. Cold hands will read smaller than your true size. If you land between two sizes, the larger of the two is usually the safer choice, since a ring that is a touch loose is far more comfortable than one that is too tight. And if you are ever unsure, you are always welcome to ask me directly.
Made to your size
Because each ring is handmade for you rather than pulled from a shelf, a careful measurement makes all the difference. Once you place your order, allow around ten days for me to make your ring and send it out. If your size is not listed in the drop down, just leave me a note and I will make it to fit.
